Irish Music – Listening Worksheets & Glyphs

Description

This is a set of printable Irish music listening activities. Use these printables for a St. Patrick’s Day  lesson or a music around the world unit about Ireland. There are 11 pieces of Irish music to listen to (the music itself is not included due to copyright), covering a variety of styles.  There is also a page with a blank title for you to use with any piece of music you choose. Multiple versions/levels of worksheets are included to help you adapt to multiple grades or levels of students.

Listening glyphs ask students to color a picture according to what they hear in the music. For example, they might be asked to color the shamrock green if they hear a harp, but purple if they do not.

3 worksheet variations are included for each musical piece.

  • Listening glyphs using music terms (mood, tempo, forte, piano, instrument families, etc.)
  • Listening glyphs using general words (quiet, loud, happy, sad, etc.)
  • Listen, draw, and circle pages (for younger students or differentiation)

The music terms and general versions of the listening glyphs both ask students to identify a few of the musical instruments common in Irish music, since this is one of the learning goals of this resource.
