10 Cool Tech Music Devices for Kids That Grow Their Love of Music

Do you have a child who loves all things technology? Are you looking for ways to grow your kids’ excitement about music?

There are lots of great music devices for kids that combine both! Let your kids grow their love of music with one of these music devices for kids.

Just last week, one of my students stopped me mid-lesson (online lessons right now) to tell me that technology is her favorite thing! I’m sure that’s the case for a lot more kids than just her, so let’s find music devices for kids that will use their love of technology to grow their love of music too!

10 cool tech music devices for kids

I’ve included music devices for kids of all ages from listening devices, tech music toys, and electronic instruments for kids. There should be something suitable for toddlers right through tweens on this list, as well as for a variety of budgets.

I’ve searched the internet for the best and most interesting music devices for kids with great reviews. There are definitely similar products to these by other brands if you see something you like but want to shop around! If you’d like to check out the ones I’ve linked, just click on the image.

Rock and Bop Music Player

This is the cheapest music device for kids on this list, which makes it perfect if you’re worried your little one will break something more expensive! I know that’s a terrible way to put it. But that is what we’re thinking sometimes, isn’t it?

This music player would work well for kids as young as 2 and up. It has over 100 different songs of all different styles, from rock to classical for your kids to play. It even features a remix mode that lets kids explore different instrument sounds. Finally, there are even a small number of learning games included on the device, although it’s primarily a music player.

This would be a great option for little ones who always want to use a parent’s device to listen to music, or want to feel ‘grown up’ and have a portable device of their own. This is an affordable, safe device that they could have all to themselves!

Jooki Music and Story Player

This music player is similar to the one above in that it is a music player for young children that is both durable and safe. The similarities end there though, and this is a much more innovative and quality device (which does means a higher price tag too). It is easy to use for even very young preschoolers.

The Jooki music player was designed with parents who are trying to limit screen time in mind, which I think is wonderful! Too often, an educational product ultimately requires kids to spend more time in front of a screen. It shouldn’t be necessary to have a screen (like in the product above) to grow kids’ love for music.

This music player comes with different characters that you can add playlists of music or stories to, and then your child only needs to put the character on the speaker. There are a number of great reviews for this device, and I’d definitely recommend checking one out for more info if it sounds interesting.

I’m including the Jooki music player on my list even though it’s sold out right now (just before Christmas!), because it would be a perfect gift to build a love of music for any family, while also encouraging fun activity away from screens.

Blipblox Toy Synthesizer

The Blipblox is on the pricier side for a kids toy, but it had to be included on a list of cool tech music devices for kids. It is very cool and definitely tech!

The Blipblox is being marketed to kids as young as 3, but would certainly be engaging and educational for much older kids (and parents) as well.

This is a real music synthesizer that from the outside is designed to be more reminiscent of Fisher Price toys with bright colors and dials and buttons. As opposed to similar-looking kids toys, though, this one doesn’t include the ABC’s or nursery rhymes. Instead it allows kids to experiment with electronic sounds, and create their own electronic music.

This is a very unique educational toy that would be especially good for any children of musicians.

Kids Karaoke Machine Microphone

This karaoke microphone would be loads of fun for the whole family, and would be loved by a lot of tween girls for sure! It works as a microphone as well as a recorder and karaoke machine, so kids can have lots of musical fun both alone as well as with their friends.

If you’d like a music device to get the kids involved in a fun family night of musical fun, this would be the one to check out!

Record and Learn KidiStudio

This toy is made for kids who are toddler and preschool age. If you have a music lover this age, or are trying to develop a love of music in your little one, then this device covers the whole gamit of music making for youngest age group.

This toy is an entire music and recording studio in one. It has a keybaord, drum sounds, microphone, recorder, pre-recorded songs, and much more. It’s a big step up from the plastic keyboard I got my goddaughter when she was this age!

Kids can learn motor skills as well as music. This toy encourages free play, but also has lights to follow along and learn with.

Gigantic keyboard play mat

This play mat would be great for kids of all ages, and is big enough that 2 kids could play on it together. It has multiple sounds to choose from, as well as the option to record.

This would be perfect for kids to explore the keys, while learning about sounds and having fun. I like this particular one because of the size and the number of keys, but there are definitely smaller ones available too.

In fact, some piano teachers of young children even use mats like this in their studios as learning tools!

KidiBeats Drum set

This drum set is designed for toddlers and preschoolers. It includes pre-programmed melodies, lights, and beast to plahy along with. This would make it a good educational experience for preschoolers. Learning to follow a beat is a foundational musical skill. Drumming for young children also develops motor skills.

Not to mention being a fun way to take out their energy and develop that love for music!

This is definitely a small toy designed for small children though, so if yours is past this age group check out the drum mat below. That one also has the benefit of giving you some peace and quiet while they play. Plus it’s in a similar price range and won’t be outgrown.

Loog mini electric guitar

Now, this is a very cool instrument made just for kids, that was backed by a kickstarter campaign. The Loog mini electric guitar is designed just for kids as young as 3 and up. It has just 3 strings to let kids play easily. There is an accompanying app that helps kids learn to play songs from their very first day.

I’ve never actually played one of these, but I can imagine how much fun it would be!

If electric guitar isn’t what you’re looking for, there is also an acoustic version also made just of small kids.

Casio LK-265 keyboard

If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more serious and your kids won’t outgrow, this Casio keyboard is a good choice. It has full size, touch sensitive keys, and is suitable for playing real music at any age.

The light up keys are also a big hit with younger kids. There are lots of preprogrammed songs and rhythms, including a light up mode to help kids learn some songs themselves.

I’ve had a number of my piano student begin lessons with this Casio keyboard, and while it’s not ideal for long term piano study, it got them started, and they all enjoyed the features to experiment with on their own.

Portable Kids’ Roll Up Drum Mat

Does your child dream of playing the drums, but you can’t imagine listening to them practice? A kids’ drum mat might be the perfect way to encourage their love of loud music.

Your kids can have all the fun of a drum set, without sacrificing your space or your eardrums. The drum mat plays out loud, but can also connect to headphones to save your sanity, without sacrificing your kid’s fun!

Kids can take the mat with them, use it on any table or floor, and begin learning to play the drums and experimenting with music anywhere without disturbing the neighbors or those around them. There are 7 different sounds built in for them to practice with.

What are the benefits of music devices for kids?

Learning music for kids has innumerable benefits for all areas of their lives.

Technology is such a huge part of kids lives that one of the best ways to build interest in other subjects can be with technology. Like my student I mentioned at the beginning, technology might just be your child’s favorite thing. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Kids learn best through play and exploration, and music devices for kids are gateways into amazing musical play and exploration.

Build your child’s love of music by giving them musical experiences and learning within their daily lives.

Some of these music devices for kids look so cool, I’m honestly a little jealous, and wish I was a kid again to try them out!
