Students love escape room games! Use this Halloween music escape room activity to review rhythms, note names, and symbols for one of your most engaging music lessons yet!

No extra materials are needed, and limited prep (printing, and very limited cutting) is required. 2 different levels are included to allow you to use this with multiple grade levels!

Suggested time for the escape room is 30 minutes if students know the concepts well – or 45 minutes if students are less confident in their knowledge or younger than Grade 4.

Level 1 knowledge:

• Notes on the treble staff including sharps (lines and spaces, but no ledger lines)
• Rhythms: eighth notes, quarter note, quarter rest, half note, whole note (a separate version with British rhythm terms – quavers, crotchet, etc. is also included)
• Symbols: treble clef, sharp, staff (in British version this is ‘stave’), and double bar line

Level 2 knowledge:

• Notes on the treble staff and the bass staff including sharps (no ledger lines)
• Rhythms: sixteenth notes, half rest, whole rest, quarter rest, whole note
• Symbols: bass clef, sharp, flat, forte, pianissimo, and crescendo

Puzzles can be mix and matched between levels should you wish.

North American (quarter note) and British rhythm terminology (crotchet) versions are both included. Both versions are exactly the same except for the rhythm terms and the word staff (North American) vs stave (British).
