Description

Suggested time for the escape room is 30 minutes. Time to complete the activity can vary greatly based on how well your students know the concepts included (see the list of included knowledge below).

Level 1 knowledge:

  • Notes on the treble staff including sharps (lines and spaces, but no ledger lines)
  • Rhythms: eighth notes, quarter note, quarter rest, half note, whole note (a separate version with British rhythm terms – quavers, crotchet, etc. is also included)
  • Symbols: sharp, treble clef, piano (p), mezzo forte (mf)

Level 2 knowledge:

  • Notes on the treble staff and the bass staff including sharps (no ledger lines)
  • Rhythms: level 1 rhythms + sixteenth notes, dotted half note, half rest, whole rest, dotted quarter note, single eighth note (separate version with British rhythm terms is included).
  • Symbols: sharp, natural, bass clef, mezzo forte, pianissimo, crescendo

Puzzles can be mix and matched between levels should you wish.

The final answer the puzzles reveal will be Vivaldi’s ‘Spring’ from the Four Seasons. This gives you a great place to introduce this famous piece (even if just briefly) to your students.

Contents:

  • teacher directions
  • clue sheet (cheat sheet containing all the information required to complete the puzzles – helpful if leaving with a substitute)

  • Puzzle #2 – maze using note values & names
