Sweetheart rhythms is a fun, easy-to-play Valentine’s day game for elementary music lessons!

Students will have a blast clapping (of playing a rhythm instrument) rhythms, without realizing how much practice they’re getting!

This is a ‘poison’ or ‘Simon Says’ style of game. Students will be introduced to the ‘sour rhythm’ (not a sweetheart!) at the start of the game. The next time they see the ‘sour’ rhythm they must remember not to clap it, or they will be out!

Both digital (Google Slides) and printable (black & white + color version) are included, as well as regular notation and stick notation. This game is suitable for grades 1 through 6, as well as private lessons.

3 levels of rhythm games (4 different games – each with it’s own ‘sour’ rhythm are included in each level)

• Level 1 – quarter & eighths (ta, ti-ti)
• Level 2 – half note & quarter rest (in addition to quarter & eighths)
• Level 3 – sixteenth note patterns (4 sixteenth groupings & 2 sixteenth-eighth groupings) in addition to previous level rhythms.
