Description

These fun, easy-to-use printable Nutcracker music worksheets are fun for all ages – kindergarten through grade 6. This is a stress-free way to study the Nutcracker ballet in elementary music or homeschool. Kids will be entertained, and thoughtfully listening through the whole ballet, while happily coloring, drawing, and reflecting on the music!

Three different options for each worksheet are included to allow you to use this set of printable Nutcracker music activities across multiple ages.

Kids love listening glyphs! Listening glyphs ask children to color parts of the picture according to what they hear. For example, if they hear fast music they might be asked to color the Nutcracker’s coat blue, but if they hear slow music they might color it red instead.

Includes:  **69 pages**

  • Instructions
  • YouTube link suggestions for listening/watching the Nutcracker ballet
  • Definitions for all the music terms used
  • 22 pages – Nutcracker coloring / listening glyphs that use non-musical terms (for example, happy, sad, loud, and quiet)
  • 22 pages – Nutcracker coloring / listening glyphs that use musical terms (for example, dynamics, tempo, mood, and instrument families)
  • 22 pages – Listen, draw, and reflect worksheets – encourage children to draw as they listen, then rate the music, and respond to a simple question of either how the music made them feel, the loudness, or the speed.

Each of the 3 versions of the printable Nutcracker worksheets includes the same 22 musical excerpts from the ballet from the Overture through to the Final Waltz!

Some famous musical selections from the 22 pieces that students will listen to when doing these Nutcracker activities include:

  • The Battle with the Mouse King
  • Waltz of the Snowflakes
  • The Russian Dance (Trepak)
  • The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
