Easter Music Games and Activities for Music Class

Easter can be a fun opportunity to bring some fresh energy into your music classroom. At this time of year, students often get a bit of spring fever, so having engaging activities ready to go can make a big difference. Especially right around spring break!

If you’re looking for simple ways to review rhythm, reinforce note reading, or just keep your students focused on music during those busy spring weeks, here are some of my favorite Easter music games and activities.

There’s Easter music games here for every grade!

Worksheets from the printable Easter music escape room game.

Easter Music Escape Room

If your students enjoy working together, and racing against the clock, an escape room-style activity is a great option.

In this Easter-themed version, students must escape from the Easter egg factory by solving four musical puzzles.

This works especially well as:

  • Small group activity (although it can be done independently too)
  • Class reward, or a fun class right before spring break.
  • Review (2 mix and match levels are included, so you can tailor it to what your students have learned)
  • For grades 4-7

It’s a nice way to get students thinking critically while still practicing core music skills.

You can find the Easter music escape room in my shop here.

Middle School Easter music worksheets from the mystery game: Case of the Egg Hunt Heist for grades 5-9 music class.

Easter Music Mystery: The Case of the Egg Hunt Heist

For middle school or junior high, music mysteries are my favorite ‘fun day’ activity.

In this activity, students solve a case by working through musical clues. They’ll need to use their musical knowledge to decode clues, and eliminate suspects. Each student is a character, but one of them is the culprit in ‘The Case of the Egg Hunt Heist’. They must use their musical knowledge and logic skills to discover who.

This is a good fit if you:

  • Teach students grades 5-9
  • Want a novel and extra-engaging activity that still reviews musical skills
  • Want to encourage group interaction (although this activity can be used independently, it is the most fun when done in a group)

It can be done with any number of students 1-30+

You can purchase ‘The Case of the Egg Hunt Heist’ here.

Easter Egg Matching Cards

If you’re looking for something simple and low-prep, matching activities are a good go-to.

Students match the Easter egg halves, which lets them show their understanding in a hands-on way. You can make matching cards to review note names, rhythms, music symbols, and almost anything else your students are learning!

These work well for:

  • Centers or small group rotations
  • Quick review or assessment
  • Early finishers activity

Also, don’t write of matching cards as a game for the little ones. With older students, matching cards can be a great way to choose partners: Hand out half a matching card to each student, and have them find the student with their matching half.

You can purchase my done-for-you Easter matching cards here, or create your own if you have more time.

Printable Easter music bingo cards in color and black & white

Easter Music Symbol Bingo

Bingo is one of those activities that students never seem to get tired of. It’s one of my favorite games, since it’s easy to review anything using a bingo game, and students generally already know the rules!

It’s a simple way to reinforce music concepts with a fun twist.

This is especially helpful when:

  • You want a whole-class activity with minimal setup
  • You need something that keeps all students engaged at once
  • Your students need extra review

You can make your own bingo game for any concept you’re working on, or find my Easter-themed music symbol game in my shop here.

Easter color by rhythm music worksheets

Easter Color by Rhythm Worksheets

For days you need to be quieter, sub days, or early finishers, color by music activities are always a hit with students (of all ages!).

These type of worksheets review rhythms you’ve learned in class, which gives you a chance to check understanding in a more relaxed way.

These are useful for:

  • Quiet work time
  • Sub plans
  • Have on hand for when another activity finishes early.

They’re also a good option when you need something that requires very little explanation.

Tips for Using Easter Music Activities

  • Limit your prep – if an activity works for multiple grades (for example, an escape room), use the same activity for as many different classes as makes sense. Especially right before spring break!
  • Use quick activities like matching games or color-by-music worksheets in centers, or have them on hand for early finishers when doing a longer activity like an escape room.
  • Use games as informal assessment – circulate and listen while students work
